"My whole life's worst shopping experience. From the start, dealing with Ion Solar was a nightmare. I should have known I was doomed the moment Ion technicians set foot inside our home. I won't go into great detail, but my installation has been problematic from the very beginning. Even though my system was put in place in December 2020, I still haven't had all of my problems sorted out. The technician who installed the system wrongly did not compensate me for the time I lost in production, and neither have I gotten the promised referral incentive. Ion's personnel is terrible at showing up on time and keeping their word, and I've had to reschedule more than a dozen repair appointments because of this. Three of those days were lost because I missed work to meet the technician. Troubleshooting an installation problem is a living nightmare. The least helpful person I've spoken to so far is reportedly the company's top customer experience manager. For the second time, I've been waiting for him to respond for nearly 5 weeks. His apparent lack of empathy and care for the customer experience should raise red flags with Ion's upper management. I sent my parents to Ion because I foolishly thought my situation was an aberration. They were dealing with the same problems I was. They got the help they needed in the end, but it probably wasn't the best experience of their lives. Replace Ion with any other firm you like better. You hope everything goes well, but if it doesn't, you're in for a rough journey." - Matthew B.
"AVOID WORKING WITH THEM IN ANY WAY. Their prices are much higher than those of competing businesses. Smooth talk with no substance. Since we allowed them in, it's been nothing but constant harassment. When we mentioned that we required repairs to the roof and other areas, the representative assured us that we may cancel at any time with no further charges. Despite this, they went ahead and started the constant harassment that would last for more than four months. We were been informed that they want to charge us a $1,500 cancellation fee. We were lied to, and the whole thing has been a terrible ordeal. We're going to take this on and spread the word so that other people may save themselves the pain that this business has given us." - James G.
"It's fantastic if you like waiting a whole year to obtain solar panels that really operate. It's fantastic if you like being kept in suspense with nothing in the way of actual project management. If you like the seemingly endless chase, this is the perfect game for you. Please leave as soon as possible if you don't like them. I would cancel my purchase and tear these panels off my roof if I could. What a **** of a business." - Paul S.
"The panels took 5 months to install, although we passed the rough inspection twice before ion even began. During that time, many persons contacted me to say they were the best point of contact, but when I attempted to reach them, I received no response. There's no sign of the final documentation, and the apex of my roof has become a roost for birds." - Oliver B.
"The sales staff at Ion Solar are experts in securing your commitment. Perhaps I got lost in the shuffle, but the other reviews and comments paint a different picture. This is my experience: We anticipated a two- to three-month wait from the time we signed in March. Dates will be set in June. Because of a delay from my electric company, we must reschedule. Fine. The new date is in July, but there has been another delay. Therefore, we will hold off on setting a new date until the utility can do so. No progress as of August. Nothing will happen after September. To ensure we are keeping up with the utility provider, I have asked for weekly reports. In the end, I had to initiate contact in order to get any news at all. I must decline and cancel. The cancellation fee has been assessed. Fine. When I mail them a cheque, they take care of depositing it. The next month, after the cancellation fee had already been paid, I received an invoice for the service." - Thomas P.
"Ion solar's expertise has made this an easy process from start to finish. Because it is more difficult for me to pick up the phone, I like that everything can be done via text messages. You may assume it'd be chaotic and difficult to get a response from them given how many people are working with you, but you'd be mistaken. They are a family in every sense of the word, and you will be treated as such. I'm glad I went with them, and I owe a lot of gratitude to my sales guy. If solar energy is something you're considering, Ion is your best bet." - Harry V.
"Everyone we dealt with on our path to installing solar panels was amazing. John was really helpful and pleasant to speak with. He went through the steps involved and how they would affect us specifically. He was really helpful and available whenever we had concerns. They have a fantastic support staff. The installation took just around three hours, and both the workers and the electrician were professional, polite, and effective. Except for the solar panels, they left no trace that they were ever in our home. The price was reasonable, and convenient payment plans were available. Overall, I'm pleased with the outcome and would suggest ION to anybody considering installing solar panels." - Liam N.
"My Ion Solar representative was fantastic. I gained a deeper understanding of Solar's merits and the advantages of working with an established firm like Ion. They’ve simplified everything for us. My installers came out on a holiday to do the work, even though it took two days longer than expected. The firm has kept me in the know the whole time, and they are handling everything necessary to receive permission. It took just 6 weeks from the time I signed up to the time my system was installed, which was a nice surprise. I have had nothing except positive interactions with everyone I have encountered at every level. I'm thrilled to pieces. This is an organization I strongly endorse." - Dylan L.
"It was a fantastic time overall. While the design phase may be relatively calm, the rest of the process moves at a breakneck pace after it has concluded. The most surprising part was the installation. They had to install 18 panels on my multi-faceted, steeply sloping roof, which spans two stories. They reported for duty at 9 a.m. and were gone by noon. I couldn't believe how rapidly they finished. They had to install a new panel, but I had no power outage throughout the process. You won't find a more aesthetically pleasing installation than theirs. If you pass by a home and notice that its solar panels blend in with the roof, it's usually because they installed them themselves. The panels are about 23% efficient, making them among the most effective currently available. Those solar panels produced in China look horrible, with their gray metal bands all over and surrounding the panels. These are completely black and stylish. You really don't hear people say these days, "I feel like I got my money's worth." Call these people if you're thinking about going solar; they'll come to you and provide all the information you need, right there on your sofa, and they won't be pushy about it either. After you learn about the procedure, you'll probably be wondering, "Where do I sign?" as I did." - Kevin O.
"Nine months ago, we had Ion install solar panels on our roof. The salesperson was kind, informative, and not at all pushy. The panels' efficiency has been as advertised, and the installation went off without a hitch. One of the panels wasn't functioning properly after installation, so they called to let us know and set up a time for a technician to come repair it. Several of my neighbors have questioned us about our solar panel installation, and I've given their name to everyone of them." - Alan H.
