"The choice of this firm to install my solar panels was a mistake I now deeply regret. They were cordial till they were paid. We had agreed that six circuits would have backup power, but they only put in four. They also stopped returning our calls and lied about other aspects of the installation. Several issues have arisen after the system was installed (such as the backup battery failing to provide emergency power when the grid did). There is no way to get warranty help. When they do react, it is always with an excuse. These merchants are dishonest. Keep away!" - Jayson
"In order to get solar panels installed on my property, I decided to engage Sun Solar Electric Inc. While I was happy with the service I received in general, I did have a few problems. The consultation process provided useful information, but there was room for improvement in the quality of the dialogue. There was a lag in providing updates, so I had to repeatedly ask for what I needed. The installation crew was efficient and finished the job on schedule, however some of the finishing touches were missed. A little issue that needed fixing also necessitated my follow-up. The panels are doing admirably, and I have already seen lower energy expenses as a result. Sun Solar Electric Inc. did a good job overall, but they could do a better job of keeping in touch and paying attention to detail for their clients." - Jennifer
"My interactions with Sun Solar Electric Inc. were a mixed bag. The initial consultation sounded comprehensive, and the company's expertise in solar installations appeared genuine. However, I ran across various problems while attempting to install it. The installation took longer than planned because the team showed up late and was clearly unprepared. Loose connections and inadequate sealing were also examples of poor craftsmanship. It was a pain to schedule the follow-up appointments, but the company did end up fixing the problems. The customer care employees were helpful and did their best to address the issues quickly. The panels are producing electricity as promised, however Sun Solar Electric Inc.'s installation process could have been more streamlined and expert." - Linda
"Sun Solar Electric Inc. was a major letdown for me. The issues have existed from the very beginning. The consultation was too short and not thorough enough; I have many unanswered questions as a result. The installers lacked professionalism and were sloppy with the job. They messed up my roof during installation and did not tell me about it until I started getting leaks. The company's customer service was unresponsive and useless when I needed their aid. It took weeks to figure out what was going on, and I was getting agitated and scared about the consequences. My energy expenses have not lowered as promised, and the panels still are not working as well as they should. Sun Solar Electric Inc. comes highly discouraged from my research and personal experience." - James
"Sun Solar Electric Inc. was the worst company I have ever dealt with. It was a disaster from beginning to end. The meeting was rushed, and the representative did not appear interested in answering my questions or addressing my issues. A disorganized installation crew showed up." - John
"Solar panels were something my wife and I had long considered for our century-old house. I got permission from the landmarks department and contacted four contractors to assess and bid on the job. We had two companies ready to take our money and install solar panels, but we decided to wait until we heard back from Sun Solar because we were so impressed by them. Steve Bernard called to say he had spent hours trying to find the optimal solar array layout but had been unsuccessful. By the time Steve called, I had done some additional reading and was beginning to doubt that this was a viable option for us. First, we have a lot of large, ancient trees around us, which is fantastic for shade but also blocks a lot of sunlight. There is no southern exposure on our roof as it only faces the east and west. Last but not least, the roof is broken up by dormers front and back, leaving insufficient room to effectively install enough panels. Because of these things, I knew without a doubt that Steve was being honest and shrewd in his assessment. I am sad to hear the truth, but I am glad I did." - Lee
"Let me preface this review by saying that I was dealing with a health issue at the outset of this process, and thus wanted to make sure that this company would be there for my wife if any issues arose after the installation. I visited their facility and chatted with the electrical and solar operations managers, Mike Meyer and Jason Fernandes. Found out they are family-run and intend to keep the business going strong by involving the next generation. I felt fully at ease afterward. Page Leonard, the sales consultant, was the first person I spoke to. He submitted a well-thought-out plan for where and how many panels should be installed. He put up with my barrage of queries with great good humor. The third suggestion I made was the one we both agreed on. So, what does this imply? Page, and the firm as a whole, values consumer feedback and welcomes your input. Nick then stopped by to sketch out the proposed layout for the new addition. He adjusted the strategy and made the necessary wiring adjustments to enable precise monitoring of the solar array and Enphase battery bank. The installation crew leader, Brian, was up next. Brian and his staff are detail-oriented perfectionists, and their work is top-notch. He took a look at the situation and suggested a few tweaks that would make the work better. The people in the team are receptive to one another and reliable. As a paying customer, I appreciate that. Nick stopped by once the installation was finished to set up the batteries. There was an issue with its compatibility with Enphase, but it was fixed in a week's time. Permission to operate was granted by PG&E on May 20th, and since then, everything has been running smoothly. If I ever have any issues in the future, I know that Sun Solar Electric will be there to help." - William
"The staff at Sun Solar is fantastic. I was getting solar panel quotations when I was duped into signing documents by a firm that said they were necessary to determine my loan eligibility and obtain my quote. I refused to sign anything that would commit me to having the panels put and made it clear that I was only interested in price. I got a call asking when I wanted the installation to start about 2 months after our initial conversation. Despite my protests that I never consented to the installation because I was still collecting quotes and was not sure whether I wanted solar because I might be moving soon, they insisted that I pay between $2,000 and $3,000 for the work they had already done because engineers had been involved and permits had been opened. I refused to do business with them and demanded they show me a copy of their customer satisfaction policy, so they could keep their solar panels to themselves. Sun Solar's representatives listened to my plight, expressed regret that I had to go through it, and explained how to terminate the open permit so that I may open new ones in the future should I need them for future property improvements. They were helpful without pushing their product on me. Totally trustworthy, educated, and pleasant fellas. They are the first company I will call if I decide to go solar." - Brady
"As part of a unique initiative, Sun Solar Electric put in a Sonnen ecoLinx battery at my house. Even though I did not get a say in which company hired me, I am pleased with the one that did. Mike initially visited the house in order to make careful measurements, plot out exactly where the battery would go, and think through the wiring setup. As soon as I started working with him, I could see he was competent. He was methodical, quick to spot problems, and brimming with ideas. Even though we only met for a few minutes, I felt completely at ease having Sun Solar Electric set up the battery. Mike and Jim brought the battery on the scheduled day of installation. They showed up promptly, and they were prepared to work. They insisted on wearing (COVID) masks and did everything they could to make me feel at ease while they were working in my house. Mike kindly assured me that I may observe the installation process if I was interested. During the installation, a few problems with the existing wiring were discovered (the home was built in the '50s). They did not balk at doing the extra, unanticipated labor necessary to correct them. It was important to Mike and Jim to "make things right" whenever they could. The installation required some minimal destruction, but they nevertheless managed to keep the area tidy. After the installation was finished, they made sure to remove any remaining debris. Mike has been assisting me with settings, and the battery is performing admirably. The batteries and the business as a whole have met my expectations. Mike and Jim were the consummate professionals, and I enjoyed my time with them tremendously. I have no qualms about recommending them to everyone I know." - Patrick
"Outstanding work, SunSolar. Our string inverter system is nearly 15 years old, so I began searching for a contractor to install a new one last year. The addition of electric vehicles and other necessities necessitated a revision. I had a lot of trouble getting the two major solar companies in the country to meet my requirements. First, I had to get rid of the old system myself because the national contractors would not touch it. Second, I have a very disjointed roof, so I need multiple smaller units to meet my requirements. The national contractors refused to come to the site to build a good system because of the intricacy. I learned about Sun Solar, reached out to them, and Miles Gardea promptly arrived to my house, assessed the situation, and began to work. There was no doubt that Miles and Sun Solar would be able to accommodate the specific contours of my roof. I bombarded Miles with questions as we went along, and he patiently answered each one and gave me all the data I needed to make a good choice. Sun Solar sprung into action and had the system up and running shortly after I signed their contract and felt at ease with them. The crew spent three days here installing the system and they were prompt, thorough, and neat during the entire process. They were friendly, helpful, and left no mess after the installation. Everything checked out fine at today's city inspection, so it looks like we are good to go with this system. It was also helpful that I got to talk to Jayson, the owner, on the phone a few times. Jayson came to my house today, too, to check on the condition of the system as a whole. When the owner stops by to inspect the work of his crew and check in with the customer, it shows he cares. A+ service to the consumer. As a satisfied customer, I have no hesitation in recommending Sun Solar." - Scott
