"Perhaps I should qualify it with "non-"... We also had a poorly installed roof that leaked, much like the previous reviewer. The roof was in great shape since we just had all new singles installed and swapped out any rotten timber. I noticed a leak in our garage when the ceiling began to yellow. He assured us that he would dispatch someone immediately. It's been almost six months and many phone calls since then. A little over a year ago, we had our system put in place. If it's leaking above the garage, I wonder where else we haven't found it leaking yet. And Gary has made it quite clear that he will not be accepting blame for anything. In addition, a new hot water tank was installed at the same time. Due of the tank's size, we asked that a pan be placed below it, but they "weren't required" to do so. Really??? They "weren't required" to install a pan, thus despite assurances to the contrary, they did not. We made many calls to inquire about this as well. We took matters into our own hands, at last. Once the setup is complete, you are on your own with this provider. They won't relax until you've signed off that the job is complete and they've been paid. You're on your own from there on out." - Jo
"Put up a massive array of solar panels and a battery backup system at my house. Because the solar panels weren't placed correctly, my bedroom ceiling collapsed. Two more of my ceilings have recently collapsed. My solar panel installation has resulted in a leak down the full side of my home. The installation was botched because the improper screws were utilized and they weren't capped. Now I need to repair not just the shingles but also the trusses in my ceiling. It has been less than two years since the system was put in place. Excel Home Solar's James Warrick is not following through on his warranty obligations. He said he doesn't have to correct the shoddy installation." - Sheila
"I had a system put by Excel house Solar in 2020 on my Illinois house. The whole process, from setup to project planning and communication, has been a nightmare. Trouble with service has recently arisen. It's already January and an inverter on one of my panels has been broken since October. I've asked them to repair the broken inverter, but thus yet they haven't done anything about it. I was instructed to contact the technician by the office. The technician said he couldn't come out since my location was too far away. Then, the one technician they have in the whole state hasn't called back to tell me when, if ever, they'll fix this easy problem. It seems they are punishing me and have no intention of maintaining the system after they partly refunded me for the design flaw in the project and asked me to sign a form promising not to file any more complaints with the Better Business Bureau or elsewhere, which I refused to do. At this point, I feel unable to give even a single star. They ought to discontinue installing in the state if they can't provide the promised level of support to the systems." - Adam
"Worse error... It was promised that the payback period for a 28-panel system would be 6-7 years, however after one year it seems that it would take more than 30. Several requests for a system check were made, but there was no response. Con artists and liars." - Jim
"It was a nightmare from the start to the finish of the installation. The salesperson assured us that our system would be operational within 6–8 weeks, but it took FPL 16 weeks and a half from the time the contract was signed before the system began producing because the company had to repair the net meter. (The company's explanation for the delay was the best one ever: they blamed Covid-19 for the delay beginning in October 2102 and ending in February 2202). The salesman explained "almost" everything, but he failed to mention that we would need solar batteries in order to keep the system running 24/7, despite our repeated inquiries; instead, he simply assured us that so long as there is sunlight, the system would continue to generate electricity regardless of whether or not any individual solar panels were damaged, thanks to the microinverters' ability to function autonomously. Then he told us some of the truth, but just some. Both our system and the neighbor's system, which were both marketed by the same Salesperson and cost $40K or more, failed during Hurricane Ian because they lacked solar batteries. If the power goes out in the FPL grid, solar systems include a kill switch that prevents them from functioning. The time has come to switch to solar power. When I contacted Excel once again, I mentioned that their Salesperson had failed to forewarn me of the problem. We have already spent a lot for a massive Solar System of 15.96 Kw, and now they want a lot of money for two batteries that are too near together. We advised them to rethink their decision due to two factors: first, the salesperson's dishonesty, and second, the fact that the system's replacement would cost too much money to save for in only 10 years. This means that the solar industry is becoming more dishonest in pursuit of profit. You're stuck with them for the next 25 years if you want to keep your system's warranty, since you can't have anybody except them work on the wiring. After this, it would be dishonest of us to recommend Excel to anybody." - Luis
"Tim and his team went above and beyond to ensure a trouble-free installation of a 9.9 kilowatt photovoltaic system on our roof. The crews' performance wowed me. During the installation, they were really kind and helpful in answering all of my questions and addressing my concerns.I didn't like that they put the inverter on the outside of the wall. Because of the hasty choice I made during setup.Since it was my responsibility (as the homeowner) that I hadn't planned ahead for the inverter's installation, I phoned Jim (the VP) to see if we could relocate it back inside the garage, even if it wasn't ESH false. Jim tried his best, so he didn't charge for the work involved when he had Tim come back the following day and spend another half day relocating the inverter.Jim, Tim, and Covey have done all in their power to ensure a seamless transfer. And that's exactly what they did.EHS did a great job installing our solar system, and I would recommend them to any homeowner who values quality work. The installer worked quickly, cleaned up after himself, and did a fantastic job." - Saray
"Excel Home Solar has done an excellent job, and we couldn't be happier. We are thrilled to witness the beginning of our own generation, since our meter was just changed today. Covey, our sales representative, was terrific right from the start. He was more than willing to explain everything to us, and his response time was consistently impressive (even on nights and weekends) throughout the duration of the project. The technicians who performed the installations were meticulous in their job and left no mess behind. Even if there are many other options out there, we would not hesitate to suggest Excel to our closest friends and relatives." - Steve
"Fantastic business; whenever I've had issues, they've been quick to respond and make sure everything is resolved to my satisfaction." - Rick
"Was quite helpful in explaining the implications of accepting the reimbursement and maintaining my good standing with the company." - Elizabeth
"My sales contact was Joseph, and he was really helpful throughout the whole buying process. To make sure I was receiving the right data for my system and that I understood it all, I asked him a lot of detailed questions, which he patiently answered. He told me the truth, and I told him the truth. I shared some of my competitors' quotations with him, and he was able to provide insightful commentary on why their data wasn't as open as Home Solar's. Exactly two weeks after signing, I have completed the installation and am now awaiting Comed's inspection and PTO (permission to operate). The support I received throughout the purchasing process and during the installation of my system was excellent. On the first day of installation, the sun came out at the end of a very bad weather day for the technicians, and it shone brightly on the panels. Joseph G., the sales representative at Excel Home Solar, comes highly recommended." - Brit
