"After two years of reliable service, my solar array suddenly stopped operating three weeks ago, supposedly because of a power surge. The installation of sufficient surge protection is recommended as best practice by the equipment maker. Before signing the contract, I asked about this safeguard and was informed they do not provide or promote it. There were some discrepancies between what was agreed beforehand and what was actually installed (pictures). Carolina Solar Energy assured me that they would keep an eye out for and fix any issues with solar output, but they didn't do anything until I brought it to their attention more than a week later. Due to their inefficiency in diagnosing and correcting the issue, I will fall short of the yearly output target they promised me in the contract." - Parker C.
"My home's solar panels were installed by the previous owner. I had to fix a broken component and transfer ownership of the new roof warranty simultaneously because of the impending sale. I had to call and email many times before I was able to schedule an appointment for the installation of the item. My appointment was missed and I received no phone call or email to let me know. Since then, I have reached out to Carolina Solar Energy through phone, email, and phone and email many times with no answer. I wouldn't trust them if this is how they handle current and potential clients." - Oliver D.
"Take caution dealing with this firm. Particularly if you are a retiree or otherwise have a low or nonexistent taxable income. They don't tell their consumers that if they have no federal tax due, they won't get a federal tax refund at all. In order to claim the promised federal refunds, it is essential to understand one's tax obligation. Before registering with this firm or any solar company, you should talk to a tax expert. Furthermore, their prices are much higher than the market average. No, this is just a client who didn't do enough research before making a purchase. Your attention is appreciated." - Jaden M.
"A pack of falsehoods was peddled. Our electricity provider informed us that this technology would replace our monthly power payment and that the only cost would be $30.00 for the meter. The solar panels cost $223.64 a month, plus I get an electric bill (which was $154.39 in April) per month. This firm has taken us in circles. An employee once informed us, "tuff, it's your problem" After a year, we finally had someone check on the solar panels, and they're barely functioning at 55%!!!! 55% To a one, I was lied to! My husband was told, "Great, we can add more panels at $38,000!" I have already spent $64,000 on the trash now on my house. Okay, I'm calling an attorney. If you value your time and money, stay far away from this company and their worthless customer service." - Max B.
"Falsehoods abound within Carolina Solar Energy's ranks. I was all for using renewable energy sources, and I had heard that installing solar panels might help me save money. They assured me that the loan would cover my electricity costs, and that all I'd have to do is pay a meter fee to the utility. Additionally, they assured me that at tax time, I would be able to write them off and get a solar credit for my efforts. They told me I could apply it to my loan balance without incurring any additional costs. One of them really occurred! After 19 months, my loan payment of $198 will climb to $320, while my monthly energy cost of $80 remains the same. Way more than I was spending when I was just covering my power bill. Electric companies and those scumbags at Carolina Solar Energy are the only ones that gain from solar panels. I'm going to go broke from buying these stupid stuff. I should not have listened to them. In a word, they're vile! I will make it a point to spread the word so that others may avoid my mistake." - Steven R.
"The staff was quick to respond to our inquiries and concerns, and they consistently updated us on progress and anticipated timelines. The employees seemed to be productive after they arrived, and they took care to leave the site clean each day before they departed." - Brian J,
"When I initially began thinking about solar energy, it was more of a curiosity than anything else. Solar seemed like a "no brainer" after my meeting with the salesperson. When I shopped about, everyone I spoke to offered me ridiculously high rates and then said they'd match it, but nobody really did. The first quote I received from Carolina Solar Energy was accurate. Even the competing company's salesperson admitted that Carolina Solar Energy's equipment was superior when we compared the two." - Riley T.
"Carolina Solar Energy provided us with the best product and prices after shopping around and meeting with many solar companies. I was looking for a reliable roofing company since I just had to have my roof remodeled. We were confident in them because of their years in the industry, 25 year warranty and personal contact with a representative; they even exceeded our expectations. Obviously, I have already recommended them to my friends and family, and I would do it again for anyone thinking about solar in their home." - Kaleb J.
"My 17 kilowatt solar system, built by Carolina Solar Energy 2 years ago, is performing well. They handled the whole project with professionalism. My whole neighborhood has switched over to them, and we all appreciate being welcomed into the CSE family. I interviewed four other firms before choosing Carolina Solar Energy, but their reputation and track record couldn't compare to Carolina Solar Energy's. We're thrilled with CSE and our $22 monthly meter fee." - Brady A.
"I just bought a house that already had an Carolina Solar Energy system installed. A new point of contact was established with me during the first week, which was a pleasant touch. We've lived here for about a year, and the solar panels have performed well." - Colin L.
