"This project ran into a lot of problems. Today, my unit was activated. We settled on the ground panels and were expecting the work to be completed in time for Halloween 2020. The initial delay was because the city needed to do a new survey. We were later told that the delay was due to city red tape and that permits had not yet been issued. Permits had been obtained weeks before, but the city still sent an inspector to inspect the building. The workers arrived late and installed the element incorrectly. When the trench was finally moved, the contractor hired to dig it hit our water line, shutting off our house and seven other houses in the neighborhood. Although it was fixed quickly, it should have been done by hand rather than by machine because there was a sinkhole cover nearby. The contractor laying the trench behaved very disrespectfully when my neighbor pointed out that he should have checked before he started work. After several days of unsuccessful attempts to contact the manager of Convert Solar, a curmudgeonly apology was finally made over the phone. The building's electrical system failed the city's initial inspection. On Jan. 6, when the problems were fixed and the inspection passed, documentation had to be sent to the power company so they could replace the meter and begin operating the plant. It took Convert Solar about three more weeks to send the documentation. It wasn't until January 22 that the power company received the necessary paperwork. The financing for this installation has already been paid for two months, which actually tripled our energy costs; otherwise, we would have just asked them to dismantle the installation. If the panels perform as advertised, this estimate will be reviewed." - Omar H.
"Maybe the worst firm ever headquartered here. After you're in, they'll completely ignore you. I contacted for help for months and all I got was a link telling me to read about it; this was despite the fact that they were meant to be monitoring the system and my panel having been out for two weeks. What's the best way to read about concepts you don't fully grasp? Once the system has been implemented, they stop responding, stop taking responsibility, and stop caring about the customer. If I needed solar panels again, I wouldn't go with these guys. You have been warned; do not approach. You wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it, but I have texts between us dating back to October of last year and their responses. Frequently, they will simply disregard your request." - Frank P.
"After a flawless installation process, every day becomes a nightmare. They never give you any warning of their arrival. They suddenly show up at your front door. They install a broken inverter. The first technician arrives two weeks after installation to try to reprogram it. No, it doesn't work. The inverter replacement crew shows up a few days later. Again, there was no advance notice of their arrival. The inverter worked, but a few days later, at 8 a.m., I had the shock of my life when I heard a noise in the bathroom and thought an intruder had gotten in. In fact, it was just the Convert Solar crew returning to my roof to hook up the panel they had missed on the original installation (apparently their system had determined that the panel wasn't working). What a pain in the ass for them! The county inspector and Convert Solar representatives showed up at my house today without prior notice. The connections connecting the panels need to be better secured and they are missing a ground wire. This probably means that the technicians will show up again next week when they shouldn't have and I will have to report them to the police for trespassing. Only use Convert Solar if you are willing to compromise the security of your home and your privacy forever." - Colin O.
"Twenty days have passed since I first attempted communication. As the estimated wait time was more than an hour, I sent an email to customer care and left a voicemail. Since the transition, I have been unable to link the app to my Convert Solar account and access my account details. They can still bill me, but I finally got a call back (after over a week) when I pretended to be interested in buying solar panels. I responded to the representative that emailed and contacted me, but I have heard nothing back. Holy Crap!! After waiting on hold for twenty minutes, the support line finally gave me the option to push 8 to be called back. This will be the third time I've done anything like this. Perhaps the third time will prove to be the charm." - Adam B.
"The panels themselves are excellent, so that's a good thing to get out of the way first. They've done their job and look good doing it. When I first met with the sales rep, I inquired about what would happen in the event of a hail storm. She assured me that the panels would be tough to break and that the cost to remove and reinstall them would be around $500 if my roof ever needed to be rebuilt. It seemed like a low price, but one that was reasonable. I wanted to get a price estimate as we prepare to replace our roof. That's $14,000. When I saw that others had paid this price mentioned online, I asked the sales guy why they quoted me $500. He claims he has no idea why she told me that or why some people are able to grasp the concept while others aren't. Regrettably, "fair market price" is a requirement of my contract (my fault for not catching it at the time, but I was going through some serious health issues). That leaves me in a bind. Before installing a new roof, you should replace the old one or verify that the cost is covered by insurance. During the installation, they dug up a portion of my yard after hitting a gas line. They never came back to fix it, despite their assurances." - Miguel G.
"We at the solar cooperative decided to go with Conversion Solar. Convert Solar did a terrific job with the design they came up with; they helped us figure out what size we needed, and then they gave us a fantastic proposal. The use of a coop resulted in cost savings. They were out in a flash once the deposit was made (just 3 weeks to fit into their busy schedule) and the 8mW system and connections were up and running in a matter of days. The utility company was slow to connect, but everything is wonderful now. Keeping an eye on output via a mobile app, and so far, so good. The sales guy was quick to respond to my texts, usually replying with new information within an hour." - Patrick J.
"We received exceptional service. The standard was really high. All I did was send an email and then provide my credit card details. A local co-op offered excellent value as well. A consummate expert and perfectionist run this firm." - Mario K.
"A Solar PV System Convert Solar made it simple to get the system I've wanted for years installed at our house. In less than 24 hours, they had completed the turnkey installation. Seeing the electric meter spin counterclockwise to a reading of 00000 was fascinating, and I now know what a meter at zero looks like as it continues to spin counterclockwise." - Karl P.
"We have been completely satisfied with our system for the past five years. The entire design and installation procedure was handled with the utmost professionalism by Convert Solar. When we had trouble with Dominion and our meter, they came to our aid. One of the panels stopped working, but the company sent someone out right away to fix it. Convert Solar comes extremely recommended from me!" - Jonas S.
"My home solar system was expertly installed and set up by Convert Solar. They gave me excellent guidance before, during, and after the installation of my system (a self-contained 23-panel array mounted on two pedestals, producing 7 kWp at peak power). As the first person in my region to install solar panels on their home's electrical system, I couldn't be happier with the results, and Convert Solar's guidance through the "first-time setup" procedures with the various authorities was helpful. For almost two years, I have had no problems with the system that was installed. I have no reservations about recommending their use for solar-related projects." - Jan E.
