"I went with a 15.54KW unit. By December 31, they agreed to get it put up. Starting the installation wasn't until January 15, 2023. They hired a worker to do it for them. The contractor performed a terrific job, and the system functions well. The request was made on February 1. I assessed the power use of the Enphase App. I discovered that the system's maximum output was 10.2 KW. I learned that IQ8 inverters were installed, and they can handle 240 watts on a 370 watt solar panel. There are 42 panels, thus 10.2 are present. They had said that IQ8+ inverters, which have a 300 watt capacity, would function. The incorrect sort of inverters were installed. They refuse to address the issue despite several conversations I've had with them. This firm has the worst customer service I've ever experienced working for a company. They said that they could install anything they wanted and that the Quote I accepted was invalid. They won't repair my pricey equipment, which now only produces 80% of the electricity it should. I don't believe you ought to cooperate with them." - Craig L.
"We haven't been able to produce any solar energy since the outage. We are still invoiced $250 in advance each month despite my promises that future payments will be based on actual productivity rather than a flat cost. Despite the fact that I haven't used any power, my PSEG bill has been $500 more than typical during the last two months. Because there aren't enough employees at the solar firm to assist, this has been taking a long time. Every time I call, it seems like I receive the same answer: please call us again in three to five business days, or we'll contact you back. Every time I phone them, it's like beginning again since they never respond." - Jerry K.
"DON'T BUY INTO THIS FRAUD BEFORE YOU SIGN UP, READ THIS: Make sure you get enough solar panels to make more energy than you need. FOR US, WE CONSUME 14,000KWH HOWEVER WE ONLY ARE GUARANTEED 9800KWH. The system is therefore set up to fail. YOU WILL WIND UP PAYING MORE BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO PAY SUNNOVA, AND YOU HAVE TO PAY JCP&L BECAUSE YOU DON'T PRODUCE ENOUGH TO COVER WHAT YOU CONSUME. Also, the customer service is very bad. The salesman takes advantage of your lack of knowledge to get you to sign a contract that is clear and only benefits one side. THEY LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO "SHOULDER" EXTRA KWH TO SAVE MONEY AND MAKE WHAT YOU USE. THE SYSTEM SETUP WAS WRONGLY CALCULATED, AND WE NEEDED ANOTHER PANEL. The system went down twice after that. DURING THAT TIME, WHAT YOU MAKE DOES NOT GET CREDIT. Because of this, we had to pay Sunnova and give JCP&L $186. THEN, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE ARE RUNNING AT 89%. THAT IS WORKING, SUNNOVA. BUT THEY GAVE US THE OPTION TO BUY MORE PANELS AT OUR COST TO GET TO 100%. Save your money or make sure you know the difference between production and consumption. Make sure your solar panels produce enough energy to cover all of your needs." - Shawn O.
"The prices at this company seem to be much higher than at others. Also, every year the monthly costs go up. We were told that the price wouldn't change once the installation was done, but we've since found out that wasn't true. We have friends whose homes are much bigger than ours, but their solar company charges them less each month. We called the company to talk about a possible change, but they told us it couldn't be done. I strongly urge you to compare prices... tell the buyer....." - Walter B.
"Three other solar companies gave me quotes, and momentum Solar was the last one to do so. Windfree Solar kept trying to sell me a smaller system, so I didn't choose them. My needs call for a system with 20,000 watts. First, they tried to sell me a system with 15,000 watts. I'm glad I know so much about electricity. I showed them my electricity bill and told them I needed something closer to 20 KW. They gave them a second offer, which was for a 19 KW system. When I looked at the quote, the system only had 48 panels and 17 KW. When I asked them about it, they said, "Well, your roof is slanted, so the 17 kW system will actually produce 19 KW." They also told me something that wasn't true: that Eversource wouldn't let me connect to the grid through net metering if my solar system met all of my needs in my area. I found out that that wasn't true. So I went with a Solar company that was closer to me and had a good reputation. I signed a contract with them. Their financing interest rate was 1% lower, and they were honest. They designed a 20KW system that would provide 102 percent of our electricity needs. I told Windfree Solar right away that I was going to go with another solar company. Stay away from Windfree Solar, would be my advice!! They are frauds, and you would be better off using energy sage, which is what I did, to find a good Solar company. I really hope this helps. Solar is a big investment, and you need a good company with a good reputation to set up and take care of your system." - Wade P.
"Design and engineering: Windfree did a great job evaluating and maximizing the PV solar potential of our property. They did some pioneering, taking into account shading and different panel choices to give us the "most for our money." Permitting: This took 4 months and was slow and a little annoying (primarily due to our unusual, stringent local requirements and variances required). But Windfree took care of everything. The installation went very quickly, and the workers were friendly and careful. I would definitely recommend the team, and I will be keeping a close eye on how the system performs compared to how I thought it would." - Philip V.
"Windfree did a good job finishing the project, even though there were some problems in the beginning that caused installation delays. The system is now set up and making electricity. The Windfree team is working to meet the requirements for SREC submissions and Net-metering. They have responded in a very good way." - Jimmy K.
"Arthur and Windfree are easy to get along with, honest, dependable, and quick to respond. The service is great. When lightning hit our array, Windfree fixed it almost right away and got us back up and running. Windfree clearly has good relationships with its suppliers, as they were quick to send the parts and help that were needed." - Jaime C.
"Fantastic experience. The individuals who carried out the work were extremely skilled and qualified to do so. The panels are not only stunning to look at but also function exceptionally well. The electricians had a great deal of experience and knowledge in their field. The work site as a whole was cleaned up, and the installation of the mechanicals was done with extreme caution. A different company provided me with a quote for a different system that was significantly more expensive despite being for a less extensive system. I simply do not have enough positive things to say about this company and the knowledgeable installers it employs." - Perry B.
"Windfree Solar has provided us with a phenomenal service. Both the product and the service are fantastic in every way. Being able to manage my house from afar has been incredibly helpful. Being able to check on the door locks and lock them on days I've forgotten has been well worth it for us because I am a very forgetful person. My husband is very pleased with the thermostats, and we have been making significant monthly savings. The service is great because when my family and I recently relocated, Windfree Solar stored all of our old equipment at our old house and installed a brand new system at our new place. Our experience with them has been excellent, so I have no hesitation in saying that they provide the best system currently available." - Harold W.
