Ken also suggested placing the panels on the westernmost part of the roof in landscape orientation to get the maximum sunlight possible. Ken further advocated very efficient American-made solar panels. He also suggested a set of controls that would allow the panels to produce as much energy as possible. We were able to undercut the competition by decreasing the recommended number of panels to 16. Ken's manager on the project, Ryan, installed it. The installation was completed efficiently and within the estimated time range. Bill Laemmel, a subcontractor for Ken, from Carbondale Light & Power, wired my house and threw the breaker. My breaker box is located deep within my house, so running electricity to it was a major worry of mine. Bill went above and above to conceal the electrical wire that connected the system to the breaker box. The wiring from the solar array to the inverter and the utility meter was flawless. I've had the system up and operating for over 60 days, and in that time, it has produced over 1.68 MW of electricity and stored hundreds of kW with my electric provider.
