"Boston Solar is great at sales. Unfortunately, that was the end of the good stuff for us. We're a typical family with an EV, so going solar seemed like a natural next step. We talked to a few companies, but Boston Solar's approach to customer service really stood out. Because of this, we chose to spend a little more so we wouldn't have to deal with any problems. It goes without saying that it was all pain. We had problems with where the meter was put (they wanted to leave it on the back of the house, but I asked them to move it to the side), so they came back more than once to look at it. When the installation crew came, they didn't know anything about the two months of conversation (and permits?!) that had gone on before. Oh, and they thought the 2 months of planning meter had to be moved to the front of the house because it was against building code. Which has never come up before?! At least the fear attack made me wake up right away. Finally, it was decided that the Building Inspector and the Install Manager would let us put the meter where we wanted to. And talking about all along? And the front of the house wasn't even talked about before? Yay! So, after making sure placement AGAIN, we leave them alone. That's a rookie mistake, so don't do it. They put the meter and the other four or five big, ugly boxes much higher than we'd talked about. My husband noticed it during the tour, or whatever it's called, and the worker said it was needed by code. Well, what's done is done, so let's just forget about it and move on. Which I would have done and wanted to do, but that was just the start! After the work was done (at least, that's what their bill said!" - Olivia L.
"Before 2017, BS Installed my system, and it's been good for 4 years with no problems. Lately, though, we've been having problems and no one is helping us. How about customer service? Days go by and the system is sending electricity into the grid, but my system reads 0, and BS, which is a good initial, doesn't return my call." - Scott G.
"When I started looking into having solar panels put up, Boston Solar was the first company that came to mind. The people who sold the products knew a lot about them, and the workers who put them in were top-notch. When I needed service work, that first great experience was quickly forgotten. I've been waiting for over 6 months, and no one has even called me back. I'm also waiting for the money that was supposed to pay for my utilities every three months. I'm still waiting after 11 months." - Conor J.
"I called Boston Solar to get a price for solar installation. We set up a time for a representative of their company to come look at the work. He was not there. When I called him back, he said he was given the wrong address. He said he would get back to me in a week with a price. After three weeks, I called again because I hadn't heard anything. No answer." - Roger M.
"You will waste your time with these people. We set up a meeting with them, and one of their people came to our house. After a long meeting with us, he said he would get back to us with a price and more information. We haven't heard anything in the last month. We have written twice to the company, and twice they told us the agent would call. Not yet. Our time was completely wasted." - Andrew W.
"I had a representative from Boston Solar come to my house. His name was Terry, and he was so polite, intelligent, and truly interested in what was best for us. We made progress, and we're very happy about it. Everyone who worked on the project, from Terry to the electrician, install team, and commissioner, was professional and did a great job. I really think they're great." - Billy H.
"Without a doubt, Boston Solar is one of the best solar companies in Massachusetts. I met with a representative of the company at my house before COVID, and he was great. He made everything clear and simple. My husband and I had a long list of questions and he answered everything in a clear and simple way!!! We highly recommend BOSTON SOLAR." - Lucy V.
"Based on all the good things said about Boston Solar I talked to them. Their agent went to two different homes. He was on time, polite, and did a good job. The offer from Boston Solar was competitive, so I took it. The customer service person called me to talk about process and timing, which was fine. Then, a group of plumbers came to make sure that my wiring and breakers were ready to go. The electricians went above and beyond to set up my wiring, and they kept me informed at every step. The people who did the installation did a great job, and they again let me watch while they explained what they were doing. They had a plan, and everyone knew what their job was. The electrical check and meter change are coming up, but I'm sure permission will be given. Thank you, Boston Solar, for doing a good job and being kind and efficient." - Barry S.
"I have nothing but good things to say about this company. When it comes to my home, I am by no means an easy customer to work with. My project head kept me up to date on everything and made sure I knew what was going on at each step. My solar system has been on my house for about three months. I haven't had any problems with it, and the benefits have been clear from the start. If you're interested in solar energy, don't wait to call Boston Solar!" - Ben T.
"We've now bought two solar PV systems from Boston Solar. Everything worked out just as planned. Both the Boston Solar representative and the team who did the installation were helpful and pleasant to work with. The most annoying portions of the procedure were the long delays caused by necessary inspections before the system could be turned on. Boston Solar took care of all the paperwork, and we were informed of the projected timelines. Boston Solar's projected timeline for inspections and system activation was spot on." - Peter K.
