I was only enquiring about the solar system and its associated costs. It was at 6 o'clock, and I had an appointment. A brief overview and some ballpark figures would have taken no more than an hour of my time at the most. After he went, I was going to go back to work. The salesman spent over FOUR hours in my home, all the while maintaining an aggressive demeanor and demanding an immediate decision on a $85,000 system. The entire cost of the loan was increased by almost 50 percent from the amount initially given since no information about the financing was provided until the loan application was issued along with the conditions. I still hadn't eaten supper at 9:30 at night, and my dog was becoming restless and barking. He has all the information he needs to process the loan, including my Social Security number, address, and a copy of my driver's license, but I decided not to go through with it. He took all that data and left. I need to take precautions against identity theft, and that includes placing a fraud alert and credit freeze on my accounts. The work was done quickly, and the roof is attractive, however we were misled throughout the sales process. We had to bring in a contractor since they assured us they would do more work than they did. Due to ambiguity in the contract, they were able to get out of doing the whole installation we had agreed upon, arguing that the phrase installation" referred just to the roof. We were already jaded by the ordeal before we saw the wreckage they'd made. Thankfully, the workmen returned and cleaned up the mess. They are the only roofing company I would ever suggest. Don't put too much stock in what the salespeople say, since they'll probably only accomplish a fraction of what they promise. We went shopping for photovoltaic cells. This business reached out to us in some way. During their visit, they informed us that the firm from whom we had initially purchased solar panels had gone out of business and made many other derogatory remarks. They couldn't be bothered to show up to the appointment in which they were scheduled to provide me with an estimate. The first time they phoned to cancel the estimate, they said the salesman was sick with the illness. We postponed because, well, life happens. They contacted less than an hour before the second appointment to say that their schedule had gotten all messed up" and that they would not be able to make it. I did not try to reschedule. I made the mistake of signing up for information at a house show some years ago, and the firm has been relentlessly calling me several times a month ever since.
