Utah’s home solar industry is undergoing a quiet transformation. SolarEdge Technologies, a world leader in solar innovation, has opened a new contract production plant in Salt Lake City to make its High-End Home Battery. With factories already established in Florida and Texas, this strategic move strengthens SolarEdge’s commitment to manufacturing in the United States. Now, all of SolarEdge’s home solar products, including inverters, power optimizers, and Home batteries, are manufactured in the United States.
“With Utah, we’re ready to become part of our nation’s energy solution”,
said U.S. Rep. Celeste Maloy (R-Utah-2), Utah’s congressional representative.
“It’s high time that we build again here in America, and this new American production of battery storage solutions here in Utah’s 2nd Congressional District is proof positive our state is taking a leadership role.”
This build-up on a strategic scale dates back to how central energy production and supply-chain resiliency have become at home.
The high-end Nickel-Manganese Cobalt (NMC) chemistry-based SolarEdge Home Battery system features a single SKU for simplified tracking and was specifically designed to accommodate high domestic content requirements. This market-leading product enables installers and homeowners to qualify for the ultimate energy tax credits on a broad range of solar and storage applications, making solar solutions more economical and cost-competitive than ever before.
“We’re thrilled to participate in America’s resurgence in production, as these investments represent a strategic bet on the American market”,
said Marty Rogers, General Manager of SolarEdge.
“This new plant facilitates our growth strategy and makes good on our commitment to customers: stable, high-quality technology with shorter lead times and a more resilient supply chain. American energy tax credits have made it possible to move production onshore and supply the corresponding energy infrastructure necessary to address surging American energy demand.”
While leaders in Congress think about possible changes to tax breaks for clean energy, SolarEdge urges them to pay close attention to the undeniable benefits these breaks have for American investment and the country’s energy leadership. These rules are crucial for maintaining the growth of energy storage and solar energy.
Because it is manufactured in the United States, this solar energy system enables people to live in an environmentally responsible manner. It’s a step towards a strong grid that runs on clean, stable, green energy made in the United States.
