Rooftop Power review

"It's hardly surprising that this business has such a high percentage of five-star ratings; they provide a $50 gift card in exchange for a positive review, and the card won't be handed out until they verify that you posted a positive review. Be wary of this shady company because they may change their minds and only send you half of the promised referral bonus (or whatever amount they want, without explanation) if they believe they sold the system for less than they had hoped. When I confronted them about it, they said they were sorry and incorrect and would give me a cheque to make up the difference. I have not received the remaining 50% of my referral incentive despite my repeated emails and the passage of more than a month. I have a copy of every relevant email to back up my claim." - Michael F.

"A dishonest and deceptive salesman. Withheld some information. During the colder months, I cash $10 checks thanks to my 24 solar panels. They generate zero revenue. Our pool was damaged and our yard was littered with nails by the roofing firm they hired. The government program is bogus. Only during the summer can you expect to make a living wage. He assured me that the sun shines brightly throughout the winter, but that the stark contrast between summer and the rest of the year is not worth it. It's disgusting that they're profiting off of you. The program is virtually full for the year, so they utilize FOMO (fear of missing out) to get you to enroll." - Destiny E.

"After much reading about Solar, my husband and I decided to schedule a consultation with Rooftop Power. A second opinion is needed. That's what we thought, anyhow. The next thing we know, we're putting pen to paper on an RIE (or other RI award) application. We signed an application the next morning after feeling hopeful that the firm would be a good fit for us. We also signed an installment agreement without realizing it. Even after inquiring whether this was just an application for the award, we heard nothing more. She never reviewed the documents we signed, leading us to assume it was just necessary for the applications. Just that. We cancelled the whole contract after reading it and discovering that we had three business days to do so. This firm is obviously not honest with its customers. Consequently, I cannot rely on them. Don't be so desperate that you ignore red signals in favor of a quick green because you didn't do your homework, didn't ask the right questions, etc. A major red flag for me was when she stressed the need of reading reviews before making a purchase. You're probably doing it if you feel the need to express it. Perhaps reviewers should treat the reviews that give them 5 stars with some skepticism." - Monika S.

"Door-to-door Rooftop Power salespeople are aggressive and condescending. After I told one of their door-to-door salespeople that I wasn't interested in their services, he told me, "You think you know everything because you are young, but you are wrong." Additionally, I was told on multiple occasions that I was making "poor decisions" because I did not want their product installed on my roof. I could have avoided all this trouble if I had just not opened the door. I wouldn't want to sign a long-term contract with this firm." - Thomas R.

"Our time with Rooftop Power has been disappointing. They assured us they wouldn't place a lien on the house. We refinanced our home like many other people lately, only to discover a $28,000 debt was already attached to it. Our first charge is now 25% more than we were originally informed it would cost. We haven't even switched on the air conditioner yet, and now our bill is almost as much as our highest SCE bill from all of last year. What a load of messed up crap! If you're not happy, the representatives will remove the panels and restore your roof to its previous state, they added. We are going to discover whether or not that is also the case." - William L.
