Mālama Solar online reputation

Customer response for Malama Solar has been very good, according to the reviews. Customers have complimented Malama Solar for its dependability and superb quality of service and goods. The evaluations have also emphasized the staff's professionalism and helpfulness. Customers preferred to support local companies and expressed appreciation for the company's local ownership and management. Working with Malama Solar has been praised for its quick replies, constant contact, and attention to maintenance.Customers have named individual employees who helped them during the installation process and addressed their problems. These employees were said to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The installation technicians received praise for their promptness and courtesy throughout the procedure. It was also appreciated how the local authorities and utility companies worked together to secure the required permissions. However, a few unfavorable reviews brought up problems with misunderstanding and broken promises. Some consumers complained about the functioning of the solar energy system and their inability to have concerns resolved with the subcontracted business, Sunnova. There were also concerns about the system's high price and how it affected monthly payments, making it impossible to pay for other energy costs. While the majority of reviews are favorable and praise Malama Solar for its expertise, dependability, and top-notch customer service, there have been a few cases when consumers have had problems or were unsatisfied with their purchases. Before making a choice, prospective buyers should do extensive research and weigh their possibilities.
"Likeable and competent salesperson, although I uncovered some dishonesty. We were sold on how much we were expected to save and the total monthly pricing. We were told that if we filed for and received a $26,000 tax refund, we could put that money toward our $87,000 loan and keep our low payment. The tax preparer always tells us that we are writing off too much and that we will never see that money again. Then, based on our monthly consumption, a custom system would be designed and installed. Well the system doesn't even support a night's worth of battery consumption. We've taken a lot of extra measures that weren't necessary to reduce our consumption while staying connected to the grid. This debt and our power bill must be paid immediately. We contacted Malama and they recommended we switch to Sunnova for support going forward. They told us to give it another month to stabilize, but when we tried to contact sunnova, the company they subcontracted it to, we got nowhere. Then the date passes, and they tell us the warranty period has ended and we cannot return the item. Even worse, there is no automated transfer switch in place to switch to backup power in the event of a power outage. We purchased solar for this reason, however the installation cost is more than we expected. To learn more about solar firms, I would." - Nychelle
"I just read a review in which the writer said, "We were sold on how much money we were supposed to save and the total monthly price." We were advised that if we filed for and received a $26,000 tax refund, we could put that money toward our $87,000 loan and preserve our low payment. The tax agent always tells us, "You write off too much every year; you'll never see that money." when we submit our taxes. We experienced the exact same thing. The salesman (and the financial guy he sent out to "go over the numbers with us") made their main pitch on the tax credit. It's still unclear to me whether or not I'll be able to recover these funds, or whether or not they'll forever represent a disastrous loss. The salesman wouldn't answer our calls, and we were informed he no longer works there; a Sunnova employee claimed they'd talk to their manager about it, but we've heard nothing more about it since then." - Regina
"I'd love to recommend Malama, but they can't continue to pass the buck and blame everything on Sunnova forever. We let Malama sell us a Sunnova system, and ever since we switched it on, it's been nothing but a disaster. It has not been the system we were promised; instead, it has been underperforming, faulty, and problematic for over a year and a half. While Malama first showed compassion and tolerance for our Sunnova system woes, this attitude eventually backfired. About a third to a half of the time we've had the system, it's been functional. Our monthly HECO payments range from $4,000 to $6,000, and we also have a solar loan payment of over $300. There is more than just Sunnova to blame if this is to be corrected." - Tyler
"My solar panels were just installed, but I haven't heard back from them yet.And if my memory serves me correctly, this process began up in August of last year. When exactly do we plan to conclude everything?" - Roel
"The worst purchase I've ever made of this size. Something is wrong with my brand new computer. There has been no repair work done. I have a massive debt on this system, and the payment is rather high. However, I continue to pay HECO over $200 monthly since my setup draws electricity from the grid. Since I need to pay for both the loan and HECo's service, I've had to stop using my air conditioner. I installed a solar energy system but still can't afford central air conditioning. To get this useless addition to my roof removed and my money returned would make my day. I saved money with HECO; in fact, it was less expensive to not install solar panels and leave the air conditioner on all day." - Leona
"The business is really reliable. The quality of the service, the product, and the professionalism are all excellent. Personally, I really like that it is locally owned and operated. If it's a local business, I'm all for buying from them. During the setup process, Justin was there to answer my queries and guide me through the steps. In addition to checking and draining my water heater (a service not necessary but he wanted to assist me anyway), Matt stepped in to offer me advise on how to save even more electricity on my water heater. The staff did a wonderful job. The two days of installation went well, and my family and I appreciated how kind the workers were. After researching every available option, I am confident in going with Malama Solar. I was kept in the loop at all times, from the time I signed the contract until long after the system was installed. The vast majority of solar energy providers just care about installing your system and never follow up with you on maintenance or communication. Stop looking now. Sun Malama is known as No Ka Oi." - Dee
"Our consultant, Sam, was pleasant and helpful from the moment of signup until the installation day. The technician that came out to the site first was really kind and helpful, taking the time to walk me through the plan before emailing it to me. The team who came to do the installation were also really nice people. They showed there at 8 am, got everything set up, and immediately began working. What they managed to do in only one day astounded me. In conclusion, I am overjoyed with my decision to work with Malama solar and can't wait to get it operational." - Shantal
"Brandon from Malama Solar was very helpful in answering my many questions and alleviating my fears about the installation process. The business coordinated with the local government and utility provider to get the necessary permits. Josh, Grayson, Levi, Dietrich, Robert, and Damian, the installation crew, are top-notch workers who didn't stop for lunch or rest even while it rained outside. That's incredible! I'm pleased I opted with Malama Solar after looking into other options; their prompt responses to my queries have reassured me that I made the right choice. Give Malama Solar a call if you're in the market for a solar supplier to see how they may meet your demands." - Andrew
"Our experience with Malama Solar has been fantastic. Brandon has impressed me from our very first conversation. He is not only well-versed in all aspects of solar energy and installation, but can also break down and explain the costs, savings, and tax deductions associated with such an investment. When working with Brandon, you feel like you're his only customer because of his attentiveness and depth of understanding about solar energy. He has been very forthcoming with information and has been quick to address any questions or issues we've had. The conversations with Malama's staff throughout the process were also really satisfying. Everyone on staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and focused on the customer's needs. Due to my hectic schedule, I seldom take the time to write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience with this outstanding business and its great staff. Contact Brandon at Malama Solar if installing a solar energy system on your roof is something you're considering. You won't be sorry you did it." - Dana A
"I can confidently say that Malama Solar is the best solar panel manufacturer out there. My sales person, Ke'ali'i Mahoe, went out of his way to make working with Malama Solar a pleasant experience. All permits and paperwork were maintained up-to-date, including with DHHL; he suggested I use CJ's roofing (Charley) to fix my roof at a lower cost; I wholeheartedly endorse CJ's roofing; and he kept me in the loop throughout the whole process. Virginia (I believe) called me when it was time to plan the installation; she verified my installation date and provided me an informative email about what to anticipate when the installation staff arrived. A reminder email was sent to me the day before my appointment. The staff showed up on time, gave me suggestions through phone, and completed the installation without a hitch. Malama Solar has done an excellent job from start to end, and I couldn't be happier. To Ke'ali'i and Malama Solar, many thanks!" - Edward
