"Do not hire this firm. I had a terrible experience with them; in the end, I had to engage a lawyer to defend my right to retain my system and pay more for my electricity than I had before. Don't bother with them; after installing the solar array on your roof, they'll inform you that you didn't give your permission, at which point your nightmare will begin and you'll have to pay a lot of money to hire a lawyer. Sign up here if you want to see an increase in your monthly utility bill. The lowest rating I could give was one star, so that's what I gave them." - Peter V.

"We launched the system to the public in the autumn. The setup went well, however, it took more than two months to activate. After then, I've had two reporting/technical difficulties, the first of which took two support calls and weeks to address. The second has continued for almost a month. My many emails and voicemails to United Solar System's customer support have gone unanswered. It's possible I wouldn't hire them again..." - Rylan B.

"In May of 2022, United Solar System and I signed a lease for my roof to be used as part of a pilot solar energy project. After signing the contract, they failed to respond to repeated emails and phone calls from interested parties for more than 14 months. The firm contacted me in June of 2022 to let me know that I would be installing The due date was rapidly approaching, and they still hadn't paid the $5,300 annual rental amount they'd committed to when we signed the lease. After some back and forth, they agreed on the original contract pricing, but when I got the documentation and contract, they lowered the monthly rental prices from roughly $80 (or $1,000 annually) to $70 (or $300 annually). They wasted my time immensely and used deception to try to change the terms of the contract we had previously signed in May of 2022. Stay far away from them." - Manuel F.

"Product and installation have been OK, but customer service has been terrible. Our project manager was unresponsive and caused repeated delays by failing to take an effort to get things done. Several times, we were informed that a situation would have to wait because someone was out of the office on vacation. The project couldn't have progressed without the constant checking in and questioning of what came next. In every case, these procedures were not started until we phoned. "One of their representatives came to our house and gave us the solar pitch. The gentleman was kind enough, but there was nothing he told us that we didn't already know, so we could have gotten the same information through a phone call. He also provided us with graphs that illustrated the potential solar exposure of our home. These weren't genuine readings from our house; they were just samples. Since you already knew our address, you could have easily looked this up before we spoke. This would have either convinced us that installing solar panels on our roof was a good idea or made it clear that we wouldn't see any financial savings from doing so. As our talk came to a close, the United Solar System salesperson gave us his card and requested a copy of our electricity bill. We did! There was a silence for weeks. United Solar System finally began calling us two days ago. Seeing all the glowing testimonials makes me hope that my experience was an anomaly. "I did a lot of research and contacted numerous companies that were interested in working with me. In the end, I settled on United Solar System because they are a local company with many local installations, their sales representative was great and had a better understanding of our local infrastructure, rebates, etc., and they handle all aspects of the installation and maintenance process themselves. After I made my decision, they assigned a project manager to oversee the installation, necessary inspections, and final "turn on" with the utility company. Their installers arrived the day before and completed the job quickly and competently, according to all of my specifications for pipe placement and other fixtures. Everything went well; we had all of our questions concerning panel production, installation, upkeep, and repairs answered in detail. Everything proceeded more quickly and smoothly than anticipated, from the first on-site engineer visit to the final connection to the National Grid. The installation team was professional in every way; they worked quickly and efficiently and knew what they were doing. Most of them had been with United Solar System for at least eight years. Installation began at 9 a.m. and concluded at 3:30 p.m.; we were connected by the company just before midnight on December 31.
